DRIVING LESSONS

CHICHESTER & SURROUNDING AREAS

I am a very calm, patient and reliable, independent and fully qualified DSA Grade 5 Approved Driving Instructor with a pass rate which is consistently higher than the national average.  I hold the ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Grade for Advanced Driving and am their area examiner for West Sussex.

Lessons take place in a modern, air-conditioned Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 1.8 fitted with dual controls and anti-lock brakes.  Its fully adjustable seat and steering wheel means it is suitable for pupils of any height, including those over 6'.

RINGING AROUND?

Six questions to ask driving schools:

-   The No. 1 question to ask:  Will I be taught by a fully qualified instructor or a trainee?  (Tip: trainees will be displaying a pink trainee instructor licence on their windscreen)

-   What grade did the instructor achieve on their last DSA check test and when was it taken?  (Tip: grade 5 and 6 are best - and the more recent the check test, the more reliable the grading)

IF THE DRIVING SCHOOL OR INSTRUCTOR IS RELUCTANT TO GIVE THIS INFORMATION, ASK YOURSELF WHETHER YOU'RE SURE YOU'LL BE GETTING HIGHEST QUALITY TUITION.   LEARNING WITH A GOOD INSTRUCTOR SHOULD REDUCE THE NUMBER OF LESSONS YOU REQUIRE TO REACH TEST STANDARD, POTENTIALLY SAVING MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.

-  What is the instructor's current pass rate for a) all tests; b) first-time tests?  (Tip: national pass rate is currently approximately 43%)

-  What other qualifications does the instructor hold? (Tip:  make sure it's a bona fide qualification)

-  What car will I be driving and how old is it?  (Tip:  you want to be learning to drive in a reliable, easily-handled modern vehicle)

-  Will I be asked to pay extra to use the car for my driving test?  (Tip:  charges vary and you could be asked for up to £50 extra - pupils who've been learning with me will pay usual lesson rates for their test)
